Autumn Colour in Brechfa Forest

I absolutely LOVE autumn. It's the first big change since spring. The gradual cooling, the turn of the leaves, the shortening days, wilder weather and cosier nights — you just want it to last forever. But would the magic be there if it were forever autumn? I'm not sure. I think part of what is special about autumn, is that it seems so fleeting. Those days where the sky is a haze that softens the shadows, wood-smoke in the air, slightly breezy afternoons, the sun low in the sky, and the woods aflame as falling leaves dance in the wind. Then storms come to strip the trees and it's gone for another year.

This idyllic autumn scene is actually the edge of a car park in the gorgeous Brechfa Forest in Carmarthenshire. Just shows what you can do with a bit of framing.
